In the summer of 1957 the smells of tomatoes
and other foods would flow across the fertile harvested fields of South
Jersey. Kenneth Casper looked out on his fields and saw a new future
growing in his rich loam soil. Instead of agribusiness he had chosen
a new direction and became one of the first horticulture businesses
in his region. This departure from his forefathers would lead to the
establishment and growth of Casper's Nurseries.
Today this third-generation wholesale nursery provides over
300 varieties of plants to customers all across the United States. For over half a century the company has grown from a few acres to
one which has three locations and continues to buy additional land
to support its 30% annual growth.
This spring has brought about exciting changes for our nursery. Cody, the grandson of our founder Ken Casper and son of Todd, has returned home to Deerfield to establish his innovations and implement all new technologies. As his father did before him, Cody benefits from a lifetime of working at his father’s and grandfather’s side. Researching the new marketplace Cody is putting into effect new product lines to ensure that our customers receive a wide variety of the newest plant material. Pursuing an aggressive market strategy is a high priority in today’s economic times.
Today Casper’s Nurseries looks to the future with over a half a century foundation and a reputation for growing excellence.
