| In the summer of 1953 the smells of
tomatoes and other foods would flow across the fertile harvested fields of
South Jersey. Kenneth Casper looked out on his fields and saw a new
future growing in his rich loam soil. Instead of agribusiness he had
chosen a new direction and became one of the first horticulture businesses
in his region. This departure from his forefathers would lead to the
establishment and growth of Casper's Nurseries. |

Today this second-generation
wholesale nursery provides almost 300 varieties of plants to customers all
across the United States. In nearly half a century the company has grown
from a few acres to one which has two locations and continues to buy
additional land to support its 30% annual growth. |
| This winter has also brought about
more change with the founder passing on the business to his son Todd
Casper. Todd benefits from a lifetime of working at his father's side as
well as being given the freedom to implement new technologies and product
lines into the business. The past five years have shown the benefits of
Todd's innovations, including a 40% expansion in new plants and an
aggressive marketing strategy. |
